John C. Artz, Esq. Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C., Pittsburgh Since 2007, Mr. Artz has been a shareholder in the Pittsburgh office of the national labor and employment law firm Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak and Stewart, P.C., with offices in 40 cities. For nearly 35 years, Mr. Artz has been helping employers with government regulation and personnel and policy issues. He concentrates his practice in employment and labor law, with an emphasis on workplace safety and health, along with both counseling and litigation regarding discrimination, other statutory matters, wrongful discharge, wage and hour matters, and workers’ and unemployment compensation. He advises employers with respect to, and leads workshops and training programs on, a wide variety of employment-related issues, for both legal and nonlegal groups. Mr. Artz is also a mentor in a program run by the Allegheny County Bar Association (through the Neighborhood Legal Services Association) that provides volunteer representation to indigent unemployment compensation claimants. Mr. Artz received his legal education at the University of South Carolina, graduating magna cum laude in 1976. He served as notes editor of the South Carolina Law Review, and was admitted to the Order of Wig and Robe. He received his B.A. in 1968 from Allegheny College, where he was a Distinguished Military Graduate of Air Force ROTC. |
