The Honorable Catherine D.  Shaffer Superior Court Judge King County Superior Court, Seattle Hon Catherine D. Shaffer is a King County Superior Court Judge (Position 11), currently assigned to the Criminal Department. Judge Shaffer is a Trustee of the American Judges Association. She has served as past chair of the Washington Superior Court Judges Association (SCJA) Legislation Committee and Criminal Law & Rules Committee, past President of the King County Law Library Board, and past co-chair of the Washington State Bar Association Access to Justice Board’s Impediments Committee, and a current member of the King County Superior Court Committees on the Court and the Community, Technology, and Jury. Judge Shaffer is a faculty member at the National Judicial College and the Washington State Judicial College. She has made numerous presentations at prior judicial conferences and CLEs. Judge Shaffer received her J.D. from Columbia School of Law (Columbia University, New York; James Kent Scholar, 1983-84; Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, 1984-86; Board of Editors, Columbia Law Review). She received her B.A. in American Studies and Political Science from Wellesley College (Wellesley Scholar – Equivalent to magna cum laude.)[November 2009]
