Item Description Back to top
This seminar will address the following three topics:

An introduction to intellectual property from the perspective of the business and bankruptcy lawyer:  the IP asset, what it is, how to recognize and evaluate it.

Bankruptcy issues that the business lawyer encounters; differences between chapter 7 (liquidation) and chapter 11 (restructuring); "executory" contracts.

The intersection of IP and Bankruptcy when a client must declare either chapter 7 or 11; how debtor assets, especially IP, are likely to be handled and why all parties, i.e., the debtor, creditors, the bankruptcy trustee and possibly even third parties may fight over it in a bankruptcy.

The Completion Date for Self Study is the date you reviewed the materials,  not the Completion Date listed on the Certificate of Completion.
