Item Description Back to top

Collaborative Law, as its name indicates, is a form of ADR, a process that allows disputants to work with the assistance of legal counsel, as well as other trained professionals, to find the best resolution of their dispute. The collaborative process is often used in divorce proceedings, but is not limited to family law. The process aims to have attorneys act as advisors to their clients in the collaboration process and, with the possible assistance of other professional advisors, help their clients reach a resolution.

Topics will include:

  • The Paradigm Shift of a Collaborative Law Practice
  • The Collaborative Team and How to Use a Team Approach
  • When to Use a Collaborative Approach
  • Differences between a Litigated divorce and a Collaborative Law divorce
  • Review of the Uniform Collaborative Law Act
  • Ethical Considerations of a Collaborative Practice
  • Trends in the Collaborative Process on a National and Global  level
The Completion Date for Self Study is the date you reviewed the materials.  Not the Completion Date listed on the Certificate of Completion.
